There is one glaze that I use where the pot and the pedestal never separate without having to cut the pedestal off with a diamond saw.. Actually, I can’t say never. It has happened one time out of hundreds. So the idea here, this is an experiment, is to paint a coat of pedestal glue onto the pot before attaching the pedestal to the pot. I am hoping that that layer does not allow glaze to run in and attach the pot to the pedestal, that it creates a resist barrier. It’s probably not going to work,

That’s why the pedestal gets dipped in water just before adding the pedestal glue. ideally, the size of the pedestal should be about 1 mm all around less diameter than the bottom of the pot. For best results, the pot and pedestal have to be completely level to each other. So if we want to use a pedestal upside down then it’s important to make it flat and also to sand off any edge that it may have. That is the process of what is happening here.
