Barn Owl is dry and ready for oiling out… the process of restoring lost depth, details and shine to an oil painting. Lots of oils are absorbed down through the layers as the paint dries, and it can leave some areas (particularly darker areas) looking dull and flat. Here I’m using a 50/50 mix of Galkyd and Gamsol (both made by @gamblincolors ). I apply it liberally, let it absorb for a few minutes, and wipe away with a clean cloth (dust free as possible). You can repeat the process multiple times

First look at my Tiger progress… the lighting on this piece is beautiful, and here I’m working on a sun-soaked area of gorgeous orange fur. 🤩 It’s a huge painting, and I’ve only just started to cover ground.
