He played one season in the All-America Football Conference for the New York Yankees, then moved in 1950 across town to the New York Giants. Landry was also selected by the New York Giants in the 20th round (184th overall) of the 1947 NFL draft. After the 1949 season, the AAFC folded, and the Yankees were not among the teams absorbed by the NFL.
