SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (October 8, 2024) – In a handwritten note citing “personal and health” priorities, Thornton Township Trustee Gerald “Jerry” Jones announced his official resignation on October 7, 2024. The note was provided to Clerk Loretta Wells, who emailed it to Thornton Township Board members yesterday. The resignation letter reads:

Darlene Gray Everett, Trustee. Trustee Darlene Gray Everett has been serving the communities of Burnham, Calumet City, and Dolton for over 20 years as a school board member.
