In a letter to Congress, obtained by U.S. News, President Donald Trump argues that his military strikes on Iran are legal based on his powers under the Constitution’s Article II, which makes him “Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States.”

The president accused both countries, which had been launching strikes at each other for days, of violating a ceasefire agreement.
