The bacteria was detected in some of the cheese curd samples during a routine investigation by the cheesemaking company.

The company is urging customers not to eat the cheese because it could contain listeria, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in certain people.

The Cleveland Clinic has identified soft cheeses and unpasteurized dairy products as foods that are more likely to be contaminated with listeria.
