José Ramírez tripled and scored in a two-run first inning and Slade Cecconi gave up a run and five hits over six innings as the Cleveland Guardians beat the Detroit Tigers 3-1.

A sixth-inning solo home run by Spencer Torkelson was the only thing standing between the Tigers and back-to-back shutouts, as the Guardians beat them for a second straight night at Comerica Park, 3-1 on Friday.

Gleyber Torres came to Detroit during the offseason, and he has been a helpful addition to the team. Early in Thursday's game, he hit a hard line drive to center field, and he came up limping on his way to first base. The ball was caught in the outfield, and Torres didn't end up going back in the game.

Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez are the constants at the top of Cleveland’s lineup. Kwan, in the leadoff spot, is hitting .317 (60 for 189) with four homers, 17 RBI and 27 runs. Ramirez, who bounces between the second and third spot, is hitting .304 (52 for 171) with nine homers, 24 RBI and 26 runs.
