The number of people killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Friday has risen significantly, Lebanese officials say, with several children and women among the dead. All day on Saturday, rescuers searched through the rubble after a high-rise building collapsed and others were partially destroyed in the attack.

An Israeli strike on a school in northern Gaza on Saturday killed at least 22 people, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, while the Israeli army said that it targeted a Hamas command center in what used to be a school.

Palestinians said the school was sheltering displaced people but the Israeli army said it was being used as a command center by Hamas.
