Nearly 25 years after Jeff Bezos founded Blue Origin, the company is finally poised to send its first rocket to orbit. New Glenn could lift off as early as next week.

The seven engines of Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket roared to life Friday, concluding an extensive test campaign on Florida's Space Coast of the 320-foot-tall rocket ahead of its maiden flight.

Beachside spectators have monitored the rocket and Launch Complex 36 pre-launch activities on the horizon for weeks, including a Dec. 27 hot-fire test.

A rocket is expected to be launched at a launchpad in Florida that has been inactive for almost two decades. A new rocket about 98 meters long, developed by Blue Origin, is being prepared for the first flight,
