According to Gijs van Lennep, former F1 driver, we really don't have to wait until Max Verstappen retires to see how good he really is. The Dutchman states that Verstappen has more than proven this over the past few years.

Former Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert says the most sensible option for Max Verstappen would be to leave Red Bull and join Aston Martin next year. A relatively tough start to the season for Red Bull has led to doubts over Verstappen seeing out his deal with the team until the end of the 2028 season.

Verstappen’s stance is clear. The 27-year-old is in F1 to fight for World Championships, rather than podiums or top-five finishes. Unlike Charles Leclerc at Ferrari and George Russell at Mercedes, he does not want to lead a long-term rebuild project - he wants immediate success.
