Ben Griffin has his first individual PGA Tour victory a month after winning a team event. He hung on to beat Matti Schmid at Colonial after breaking a tie with his co-leader for good on the first hole.

Ben Griffin and Matti Schmid matched each other again Saturday, and will go into the final round at Colonial tied four strokes ahead of the field and with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler lurking not much further back.

They were at 13-under 197 after posting the same score for the third straight day at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

FORT WORTH – Scottie Scheffler gave his sizable Charles Schwab Challenge gallery the kind of third-round charge it wanted to see on Saturday morning. Scheffler played his first 11 holes at Colonial Country Club in seven-under par, reducing his 10-shot overnight deficit on the leaders to just three at one point.
