United Airlines and JetBlue Airways announced an agreement Thursday morning to share frequent flier benefits and sell tickets on each other’s websites.
A new Blue Sky agreement, as the two airlines are calling it, will allow United to fly out of New York’s JFK Airport once again and will provide reciprocal earning and points redemption benefits, among other things.
With access to top-tier partner airlines like Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, and ANA, MileagePlus from United is ideal for international flyers aiming for Europe, Asia, or South America. MileagePlus is particularly attractive when booking award flights on partner airlines, often offering better value than using miles on United’s own flights.
JetBlue, the sixth largest U.S. carrier, and United will also exchange eight flight timings at Newark - giving JetBlue more flights at the New Jersey airport outside New York - and United will move some holiday and travel services to JetBlue’s Paisly platform, the companies said.
