Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday announced deportation flights had begun to take off from the so-called Alligator Alcatraz immigration detention facility in the Everglades.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says deportation flights from the remote Everglades immigration lockup known as Alligator Alcatraz began in the past few days.

It’s not clear where the flights ended up after Gov. Ron DeSantis announced them from the controversial tent city the state built to support the sweeping deportation agenda that helped propel President Donald Trump to a second term but is largely opposed by Americans.

What they’re trying to do, at the end of the day, is pretend like this facility is not governed by federal law,”  said one attorney.

Governor DeSantis announced Friday that deportation flights have started transporting detainees back to their home countries from the immigration detention center known as “Alligator Alcatraz,” with the first flights departing in recent days.
