As communities prepare for the impact of Tropical Storm Helene, Gov. Brian Kemp has issued a State of Emergency for Georgia. Here's what that means.

The city of Warner Robins declared early Thursday a state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Helene’s expected arrival. Helene is expected to bring unprecedented wind speeds and flooding overnight, according to the National Weather Service. Warner Robins and all of Middle Georgia remained under a hurricane warning and flood watch Thursday.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Wednesday declared a state of emergency for the commonwealth of Virginia in anticipation of impacts from Hurricane Helene later this week. Although the current storm path places its center west of Virginia,
