Basketball Hall of Famer Gregg Popovich has been away from the team because he suffered a mild stroke earlier this month, the San Antonio Spurs announced Wednesday.

The absence of Gregg Popovich after he suffered what the Spurs have termed a "mild stroke" has created a "difficult time for everyone" in the organization," general manager Brian Wright said Wednesday. "There is clearly a void and we will miss him," Wright said.
