Portland dominates the second half, puts away the 76ers
Some nights are easy, thank goodness!
Joel Embiid and two other Sixers were late scratches on the final stop of a' five-game west road trip, and Philadelphia was mentally on the plane home by the time the third quarter began. An ugly blowout to end a good road trip.
It's time to give a grade to the two moves Daryl Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers performed at the trade deadline.
Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey doesn't seem too worried about any of the moves his Eastern Conference competitors made ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline, including the Cleveland Cavaliers acquiring James Harden.
Embiid will be held out due to right knee injury management, likely in an effort to ensure he goes into the All-Star break healthy with only one additional game remaining. Dominick Barlow (illness) is also out, opening up minutes for Trendon Watford, Adem Bona and Andre Drummond in the frontcourt.
All things considered, the Sixers will take a 3-2 road trip. But a loss punctuated by another catastrophic third quarter was not the way the Sixers wanted their Western Conference swing to end.
