The back-to-back doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday were the first outdoor college hockey games ever played at Wrigley Field, and despite biting cold for both games, fans came prepared for the first-ever Frozen Confines series.

The Spartans improve to 2-3-1 outdoors, famously having tied their rival Michigan Wolverines in the 2001 “Cold War” game at Spartan Stadium that kicked off the outdoor ice hockey phenomenon.
After neither team found the net during the three-on-three overtime period, Ohio State eventually ended the game in a seven-round shootout. Nonetheless, the final score moved Wisconsin to an impressive 20-1-1, 14-1-1 WCHA on the season and concluded the Badgers’ season series against the Buckeyes (13-5-3, 8-5-3 WCHA).
