Pennsylvania education officials were informed of the funding delay late June 30, after school districts had already approved their budgets. The funding freeze affects seven federal programs totaling nearly $7 billion nationwide.

A threat by the Trump administration to hold back $6.8 billion in federal education grants nationwide means California could lose over $800 million.

The money would have gone toward after school programs - services for English learners, migrants and professional development.
