Nissan is cutting shifts at its Smyrna plant and offering buyouts to some workers. This is part of the Japanese based company’s plan to cut 9,000 workers.

The Nissan automobile assembly plant in Smyrna will cut one of two shifts at the production line for its Rogue sports utility vehicle starting in April, according to multiple media reports. Japan-based Nissan parent Nissan Motor is offering worker buyouts with the cutting back of shifts in an effort to reduce $2.6 billion in global costs.
