Senator Chris Van Hollen said he would press for the release of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran immigrant who was mistakenly deported by the Trump administration and imprisoned.

Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in a video posted to X that he hopes to meet with Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

US Sen. Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador Wednesday seeking to meet with government officials there about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man who had been living in his state until he was mistakenly deported by the Trump administration last month to a mega-prison in the Central American nation.
