Denis Villeneuve is going from Dune to 007. The filmmaker has been tapped to direct the next James Bond movie, the first from AmazonMGM. Tanya Lapointe, Villeneuve’s artistic partner and wife, will serve as an executive produver. As previously announced, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will serve as producers.

Four months after fans of the James Bond franchise decried the deal struck between Amazon MGM with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to cede creative control of the 007 franchise, hope has arrived in the form of famed director Denis Villeneuve.

The next James Bond chapter has begun. Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind “Dune,” “Blade Runner 2049,” and “Arrival,” has been tapped to direct the next James Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios, the company announced on Wednesday. Villeneuve will also executive produce alongside Tanya Lapointe.
