At least 24 people are dead after heavy rain lashed Texas, leading to "catastrophic" flooding.Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said emergency responders remained in a search and rescue posture, hours after the flooding along the Guadalupe River inundated nearby areas.

Authorities have said thirteen people have died in Kerr County in the US state of Texas amid a bout of severe weather and flooding. Others remain unaccounted for - including around 20 children who had been at a summer camp.

An estimate of 20 girls remained missing after deadly flooding caused “destructive” floods at Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said.
