Expect another smoggy day in metro Detroit. The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) has declared its eighth Air Quality Advisory of the season for Tuesday, July 15, citing elevated levels of ozone. Tuesday's Air Quality Index (AQI) is orange, which is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
An updated air quality alert was reported by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 4:13 a.m. EDT in effect until Wednesday at EDT for St. Clair, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Wayne and Monroe counties.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy expects particle pollution to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups level.
