Will Smith, like the rebuilding San Jose Sharks, is learning on the job. It’s normal for a teenager in the NHL to be down, then up, then down again. It’s normal for a young team to be down, then up, then down again.
Luke Kunin is faster this season. “He’s moving better,” San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said in training camp. That’s what it looks like on the ice too: Kunin has 10 goals in 47 games, on pace for a career-high 17.
Will Smith had a goal and assist for the Sharks in a 6-3 loss to the Bruins in his homecoming on Monday before San Jose also lost 7-5 at Nashville

The Sharks had a 5-1 lead with 16:32 left in the second period. Nashville then came all the way back and won the game for their fourth straight. Prior to tonight, Nashville had never come back to win a regular season game after being down four goals.
Rookie goalie Yaroslav Askarov made 27 saves, including some spectacular stops early on, to help keep the Sharks (14-29-6) in the game.
