The Tennessee Army National Guard deployed helicopters to aid in extinguishing the East Tennessee wildfires, demonstrating rapid support at Mountain City's request.

Emergency responders contained fast-moving fires Tuesday and Wednesday, but concerns remained as winds stayed strong.

The latest forecast comes after a weekend of Red Flag Warnings for East Tennessee. Despite the warning and requests from officials to refrain from burning, Rural Metro Fire said it spent much of Saturday responding to brush fires. Sunday, the agency responded to a large fire on Millertown Pike.

Local fire departments and the Tennessee National Guard are fighting several wildfires in Sevier County, near Gatlinburg, as well as near Tellico Plains in Monroe County and Mountain City.
