Los Angeles Dodgers ace Shohei Ohtani is back on the mound and turning heads, recording back-to-back strikeouts in his second start.

Most notably, Ohtani recorded his first pitching strikeout as a Dodger on Sunday. His first two pitching strikeouts as a Dodger, in fact. Ohtani fanned Luis García Jr. and Nathaniel Lowe to pitch around a Mookie Betts error at shortstop. Ohtani threw 12 of his 18 pitches for strikes against the Nationals. The inning got off to an efficient start for Ohtani, who induced a first-pitch groundout from leadoff hitter CJ Abrams. Projected All-Star James Woods made Ohtani work as the second batter of the day and reached first on an error by outfielder Mookie Betts on a 2-2 count. Wood was the only batter to reach base off of Ohtani.
