A fight in the stands near the VCU bench caused their game against Saint Louis on Tuesday to be delayed about seven minutes with 1:10 remaining.

A large brawl which appeared to involve at least a dozen fans broke out at a men’s college basketball game between Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Saint Louis University (SLU) on Tuesday, causing the game to be halted for a number of minutes.

Saint Louis University on Wednesday released a statement regarding the fan altercation that delayed the Billikens' men's basketball game against VCU on Tuesday night at Chaifetz Arena.

Tuesday night's Atlantic 10 basketball game between Virginia Commonwealth and Saint Louis was delayed for several minutes after a fight broke out in the stands. The Billikens were leading 69-63 with 1:10 remaining in regulation when fans seated behind the VCU bench were wrestling with each other and fell across several rows of seats and onto the floor.

A wild scene unfolded toward the end of Saint Louis’ win over VCU on Tuesday night, as a brawl broke out in the stands with just over a minute left in the game.

It appeared more than a dozen people were swallowed up by the incident, which led to a very long delay on Tuesday night.
