After initially favoring diplomacy, US President Donald Trump resorted to an extraordinary use of force against Iran on Saturday night, striking three of the regime’s key nuclear sites.

"The NPT, a cornerstone of the non-proliferation regime, has been manipulated into a political weapon," Iran's U.N. envoy said.

The future of Iran’s nuclear program will depend in part on the extent of the damage from the U.S. attacks and Tehran’s negotiating position in the coming days.
