A severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg at 01:03 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21.
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for most of North Texas until 5 a.m. Tuesday. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 1:30 a.m. for parts of Collin and Dallas counties.
Another round of tornadoes has struck the central U.S. after four days of tornadoes, thunderstorms and heavy rain killed more than two dozen people.
On Tuesday at 1:36 a.m. an updated severe thunderstorm watch was issued by the NWS Fort Worth TX in effect until 5 a.m. The watch is for Collin, Delta, Fannin, Hopkins, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Rains, Rockwall and Van Zandt counties.
On Monday at 2:45 p.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 3:30 p.m. The warning is for Wyandotte, Clay, Platte, Caldwell, Clinton and Ray counties.
An updated severe thunderstorm warning was released by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 9:39 p.m. in effect until 10:45 p.m. for Cherokee County.
"The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits. Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire. However small hail and gusty winds are still possible with this thunderstorm. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. for north central Texas," says the NWS Fort Worth TX.
Severe thunderstorms are expected in the Kansas City area on Monday, but weather conditions could prevent the strongest storms from forming, according to the National Weather Service. But the weather service said that if discrete supercell storms can develop in the afternoon, damaging winds, hail and tornadoes will be possible.
At least seven people are dead in Missouri after strong supercell storms that spurred tornado warnings slammed into St. Louis on Friday. Two others died in Virginia.
A rural North Texas school district canceled classes on Monday after a night of severe storms . Gordon ISD, located in Palo Pinto County, had extensive damage to school property and asked staff and students to stay off campus while emergency crews and insurance adjusters investigate.
