A Powerball player just missed a $250 million jackpot — but is still set to get richer in North Carolina. The player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the July 14 drawing, making it worth $50,000, according to the N.C. Education Lottery website.
A Powerball ticket worth $100,000 was sold for Monday’s lottery drawing at a convenience store in Ocean County. The lucky Powerball ticket was bought at Wawa on County Line Road in Jackson, lottery officials said. It matched four numbers, but not the Powerball, and was purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1.
More than 365,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million, the lottery said.
The Arizona Lottery announced that a winning $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at a Cobblestone Auto Spa in Chandler near Alma School and Germann roads. The ticket also had a Powerplay, doubling the amount to $2 million!
