The New York Mets spent most of the winter preparing for life without Pete Alonso. Now, they've spent the first 13 games of the season wondering where they'd be without him.

The New York Mets can no longer go after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in free agency. However, that does not change the fact that Pete Alonso can opt out of his deal.The easiest option for the Mets would be to give Alonso a five or six-year deal now that they no longer are holding out hope for Guerrero.
