The father of two children - who went missing along with their mother and three others from Manipur's Jiribam after an encounter between suspected Kuki insurgents and the security forces - has appealed to the authorities to find them.

Operations are underway to trace three women and three children, who have been reported missing since the violence erupted in Jiribam on Monday.

Two civilians were found dead in Manipur's Jiribam district on Tuesday morning, a day after 10 militants were killed in an encounter in the district. The police said three women and three children were missing since the gunfight yesterday.

Of the newly dispatched CAPF companies, 15 are from the CRPF, while five belong to the Border Security Force (BSF), sources added. These reinforcements join the existing 198 CAPF companies in Manipur, initially deployed following ethnic clashes in May of last year, which resulted in over 200 casualties.

Sources said out of the 20 fresh Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) companies ordered to be rushed to Manipur include 15 from the CRPF and five from the Border Security Force (BSF).

At least 10 suspected militants were killed in a fierce gunfight with the CRPF after insurgents in camouflage uniforms, armed with sophisticated weapons, fired indiscriminately at the Borobekra police station and the adjacent CRPF camp at Jakuradhor in Jiribam district.
