United States President Donald Trump has drawn mockery after he complimented the president of Liberia for speaking English “beautifully”, even though it is the country’s official language.

Liberians reacted with a mix of anger and weary resignation on Thursday after discovering that the leader of their country's closest bilateral partner does not appear to know what language they speak.
