Authorities say passengers had to evacuate a smoking American Airlines jet at Denver's airport using an emergency slide.

Video posted to social media showed passengers evacuating the aircraft using a slide as smoke and flames billowed from below the rear of the plane.

A small fire in the brake system just ahead of the jet’s takeoff prompted the evacuation of 173 passengers and six crew members, the authorities said.
