The Missouri Tigers took care of business in their men’s basketball home opener Friday night, beating Howard University 77-62 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. They snapped a 20-game losing streak — a slide dating to last season — in the process.

The Missouri women's basketball team won its home opener Thursday night, defeating the Southern Jaguars 66-51 at Mizzou Arena. Missouri, which dropped its season opener three day earlier at Vermont, led wire-to-wire and was ahead 21-4 at the end of the first quarter.

Tamar Bates scored 17 points and Mark Mitchell had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Missouri Tigers defeated the Howard Bison 77-62 Friday night in Columbia, Mo.

The final score might look better than how the Tigers played, ranging from Missouri's offensive struggles to its inability to defend the perimeter.
