The fringe group that planted the seed for some of Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claims that South Africa is persecuting White farmers saw years of lobbying US politicians pay off.

The Trump administration has already welcomed the first group of Afrikaner asylum applicants, who were given expedited refugee status after claiming they were the victims of violence and discrimination in South Africa.

After suspending the US refugee program, President Trump is making an exception for white South Africans, known as Afrikaners
