Sen. Ed Markey and U.S. Reps. Ayanna Pressley and Jim McGovern met with Rumeysa Ozturk at a Louisiana detention facility on Tuesday.

A delegation of congressional members traveled to Louisiana Tuesday to demand the release of Mahmoud Khalil and Rumeysa Ozturk and inspect conditions at the two Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facilities where the two remain in custody.

Ayanna Pressley and Jim McGovern met on Tuesday with Rümeysa Öztürk, the Tufts University graduate student detained in an ICE facility in Basile, Louisiana. The delegation traveled to the state to demand the release of Öztürk and former Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil and to inspect conditions at the two detention facilities where each remain in custody.
