T-Mobile is once again being sued by Washington state over the 2021 data breach which exposed sensitive information for over 79 million people, The Verge reports. The lawsuit filed on Monday alleges that T-Mobile had been aware of various security loopholes in its systems for years but didn’t take any action.

The 2021 breach affected at least 2 million Washington state residents, and tens of millions more customers around the United States.

Washington State goes after T-Mobile for 2021 data breach, stating that the company didn't do enough to protect its customers and their data.

In a statement released Monday, the Bellevue-based telecom company said it was surprised by the lawsuit from the Attorney General's office.

The Attorney General (AG) is suing Bellevue-based T-Mobile for “failing to adequately secure sensitive personal information of more than 2 million Washingtonians,” according to a news release.
