The Illinois state legislature passed a $55.2 billion budget in the final 48 hours of the legislative session, leaving little time for public review. The four bills that made up the budget were part of a slew of legislation introduced and passed in the last two days of the state legislative session.

Giving almost no time for public review, Illinois Democrats pushed through a $55.2 billion budget for next fiscal year late Saturday.

The $55 billion budget plan unveiled Friday night by Democratic leadership would include new taxes on gambling as well as tobacco and vape products.
