Alaska Airlines is canceling more than a dozen flights a day as tariffs hinder its ability to accept delivery of new aircraft, according to the carrier.The Seattle, Washington-based airline said it wouldn't immediately accept delivery of two Embraer 175 regional jets in order to avoid incurring the extra tariff-related costs.

Alaska Airlines will launch nonstop flights between Seattle and Rome next year, directly connecting the two cities for the first time, according to the airline.

Alaska Airlines on Tuesday announced it was adding nonstop flights between Seattle and Rome next year, its first transatlantic route. The Italian capital was not previously served by an airport in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. It’s the third long-haul destination Alaska has added at its Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hub after Tokyo and Seoul.
