Fire crews are continuing to monitor areas for potential hot spots in Tellico Plains after wildfires spread for hours beginning Tuesday morning through Wednesday.

Evacuation orders have been lifted after wildfires were deemed under control in Monroe County Wednesday morning. According to Monroe County Mayor Mitch Ingram, one home was lost in the fire, and two first responders suffered minor injuries.

Crews in Monroe County are working to contain a 100-acre wildfire near Tellico Plains. Just after 4:35 p.m., Tellico Plains Mayor Marilyn Parker told 6 News that the wildfire had grown to 100 acres in size.
