Parshay M. Lewis, 34, surrendered to police Monday, according to an Illinois State Police news release Thursday. She is charged in connection with the hit and run that killed 35-year-old Coryesha Davis on Saturday. After being struck, Davis was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, the release said.

Metro will charge 10% to 13% more to ride its buses starting July 16, with more increases under discussion for 2027 and 2029. The Cincinnati transit agency says it needs the additional dollars, despite the financial boost it has gotten from a new tax since 2021, to expand its services, upgrade its fleet and keep up with inflation.
The transit agency estimated a ridership count of roughly 23.7 million last month on its bus and rail systems — a 13.5% drop from May and the lowest June on record since 2022, when numbers had started to rebound since the pandemic emergency, according to Metro data. The large immigration sweeps began June 6.
