HARAHAN, La. (WVUE) - A 32-year-old man riding an electric scooter without a helmet died early Friday (July 18) after being struck by a sport utility vehicle, Louisiana State Police said. Authorities identified the victim as Christopher Harris of Harahan.
As things stand though, NOPD isn’t alone. The Peace Officer Standards and Training Council — known as POST — sets training standards for law enforcement in Louisiana. POST confirmed that swimming is not a statewide requirement and that it's up to each individual agency to decide whether to include it.
