Could one broadcast channel and one streaming app for the Dodgers and Lakers become reality now that Mark Walter, the controlling owner of the Dodgers, is the new controlling owner of the Lakers?

The tone was set for Walter’s tenure. Without the restrictions of a hard salary cap, the ownership group has supported a top-five payroll every season since 2013, leading the sport in spending in seven of those seasons. The Dodgers have also not missed the postseason since 2012. This is not a coincidence.

Walter was part of David Geffen's bid to buy the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014, when the team went for sale after former owner Donald Sterling was banned by the NBA for racist remarks. However, the team eventually went to Steve Balmer, who acquired the Clippers for $2 billion.
