Lauren Betts had 17 points and seven rebounds despite spending the entire second quarter on the bench, and top overall seed UCLA reached its first Final Four of the women’s NCAA Tournament with a 72-65 victory over LSU.
The UCLA Bruins fell to LSU in the Sweet 16 last season, but they weren’t going to let it happen again. Their 72-65 victory in the Elite 8 avenges the prior loss and sends them to the program’s first-ever Final Four.
Betts was fantastic in the victory, putting up 17 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. UCLA needed every bit of it to hold off the pesky Tigers, who were led as usual by the dynamic duo of Flau'Jae Johnson (28 points, four assists) and Aneesah Morrow (15 points, seven rebounds).
