The hamstring injuries for Pickett and Gabriel certainly threw a monkeywrench into the four-way quarterback competition, and put Flacco squarely in the driver’s seat to face Joe Burrow in Week 1 and probably his former Ravens team in Baltimore in Week 2. But the Browns aren’t conceding anything just yet in the battle.

The Cleveland Browns are likely naming Joe Flacco a "bridge" starter for Week 1, while keeping their quarterback competition open behind him on the depth chart.

“Most of us have dreamt of this moment since we were 5 years old. For him to get out there and play, even though it is preseason, we will all be on the sidelines and at home enjoying it,” said Flacco.
