In December, the owner of a Steve McQueen tribute Jaguar XKSS reported that the car had been stolen from a “locked garage,” with a reward offered for the car’s safe return. On Wednesday, police in Texas said they had successfully recovered the car, in part because of all the attention the theft had received on the internet.

The car's theft was widely reported on social media and in car publications, which generated several leads as to where it might be.

The XKSS replica was created by the folks at Team CJ in Austin, Texas. On December 2, 2024, the car was stolen from a locked garage in the Westlake area. Team CJ spread the word on social media, and asked for help in recovering the special car. They also offered a substantial reward for its return.
