After a man died in Haverhill police custody, his family is asking the public for support — and demanding those responsible be held accountable. Francis Gigliotti‘s fianceé, Michelle Rooney, created a fundraiser in the wake of his death, which she described as a “violent encounter with the Haverhill Police Department.”

Seven officers were placed on paid leave after a man died on July 11 following a struggle with police in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

The officers, who were not identified, are on paid leave, Haverhill Police Chief Robert P. Pistone Jr. said Monday.
