A “click-to-cancel” rule, which would have required businesses to make it easy for consumers to cancel unwanted subscriptions and memberships, has been blocked by a federal appeals court just days before it was set to go into effect.

The FTC’s "click-to-cancel" rule would have required companies to make canceling a subscription as simple as signing up. But a federal appeals court blocked the policy days before it could take effect.

The Federal Trade Commission’s “click-to-cancel” rule was adopted in October and would have required companies to disclose when a free trial ended and to make it just as easy to cancel as it is to sign up for a service, The Associated Press reported.
