Hundreds of people waited in line for hours on Friday night for the chance to support survivors of the Gabriel House fire in Fall River, Massachusetts, who are now starting from scratch.

The Bristol County DA reported the update Friday saying, "it was due to a miscommunication with a medical agency."

The family of a resident at the Gabriel House assisted living facility has retained a law firm to investigate the circumstances leading up to the deadly Sunday fire that killed nine people and left dozens injured.

Gabriel House residents described a chaotic scene Sunday night before they were rescued from the blaze that left nine dead and dozens more injured.

Brenda Cropper, 66, had been hospitalized in critical condition since Sunday’s fire at the Gabriel House on Oliver Street.

After announcing that a tenth victim had died following Sunday night’s fire in Fall River, the Bristol County District Attorney is pulling back that statement, saying the woman is alive and remains in critical condition.
